A little slice of small town American life!
MIDNIGHT AT THE RODEO
The rodeo grounds have gone silent------------------ V1
The cars are all gone from the street
Polaris rides point for the dipper
A half-moon begins its slow creep
The mid-way has lost its bright colors
The music it no longer beats
The big bulls clang restless in cages
I hear a lone lamb start to bleat
The moon shines down-------------------------------- Chorus
On the sleepy small town
The critters have all
Gone to sleep
The river rolls on
Through that late summer fog
So quiet so peaceful
And deep
The bridles lie idle on saddles----------------------------- V2
Cowboys court cowgirls so sweet
The pies and the hot dogs are all eaten
The boots are pulled off my tired feet
Old tractors shine dull in the moonlight
The Clydesdales have pulled their last log
The stars shine above in nights darkened glove
The kids have paraded their dogs
The moon shines down-------------------------------- Chorus
On this sleepy small town
The critters have all
Gone to sleep
The river rolls on
Through that late summer fog
So quiet so peaceful
And deep
The hum and the thrills and the hustle
Of this place has retired to bed
The air smells of corn and manure
As an old western song plays in my head
September will soon be upon us
The mountains will chill with cold air
The Stetsons and milking and riding
Will wait until next years Fall Fair!
The moon shines down-------------------------------- Chorus
On the sleepy small town
The critters have all
Gone to sleep
The river rolls on
Through this late summer fog
So quiet so peaceful
And deep
So quiet so peaceful
So deep
